Self-Care for Anxiety

Updated: Apr 24, 2022

Struggling with anxiety? Sometimes we need to nurture our restless mind with some self-care. Here are some things that can help:

  1. Sleep - we've all heard it. Get plenty of rest. But really sleep affects us physically and emotionally. Getting a little more sleep at night can literally change your life.

  2. Meditate - nothing like slowing down to calm the mind. With rush of go go go in this busy world, it's no wonder so many people are overwhelmed and anxious. Meditating allows you to give yourself permission to just relax, take some deep breaths and let things go.

  3. Stay Active - movement can release chemicals in our bodies that enhance a sense of well-being along with giving us more energy

  4. Limit Caffeine - caffeine stimulates the "fight or flight" response and can make anxiety worse

  5. Keep a journal - sometimes just writing down how we feel, something that is stressing us out or things we are grateful for can release us from those feelings of anxiousness

Meditating and journaling this morning and writing down some feelings I've been having helped me a TON with my anxiousness, personally.

If you are feeling anxious, just remember, take a deep breath, slow down and try one or some of these self-care tips.
